Mhlanga lab laboratory has undertaken projects to evolve the area of super-resolution microscopes. A new project is undertaken to overcome the limitations of current technologies such as lack of RNA and DNA probes available for dynamic switching in STED, cell damage caused due to laser cycling, and dynamic imaging possible with cell nucleus and time-resolved resolution.
By overcoming all these challenges, the project intends to establish new relation between gene territories and gene networking. Research on advances in super-resolution microscopes such as single cell localization, high-sensitivity microscopes, and photo-switchable fluorophores is being conducted, wherein two instruments are dedicated for this work.
