Wearing contact lenses for a long period leads to Contact Lens-induced Dry Eye (CIDE). There are approximately 140 million contact lens users worldwide. As the number of contact lens users has increased, the incidence of CIDE is also expected to increase parallelly. CIDE is reported to be one of the major reasons for people switching back to glasses from contact lens. However, majority patients strongly refrain to switch back to glasses from contact lenses driving the demand for an efficient CIDE treatment option that prevents avoiding the use of contact lens. Thus, growing number of contact lens users globally is anticipated to increase ophthalmic clinic visits for IPL and MGX treatments. However, the development of modern contact lenses with high oxygen permeability and acceptance of daily disposable lenses are anticipated to render its impact on the market growth in the long run.

Restraint: Presence Of Several Contraindications Pertaining To Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Although IPL is effective and safe in treating the root cause of evaporative dry eye disease, it has several contraindications associated with it that limits its adoption.
